The Ship Store has a new Patch thanks to the efforts of John De Lude.
This USS Threadfin Ships patch was worn by crew members between 1955 and 1958.
John explains the description of the patch,
"The playing cards signify the card game ACEY DEUCY.
The Dice signify the game of Craps.
The Skeleton fish & Champaign Glass signifies a skeleton crew on board, with the rest out drinking.
The LATIN phrase at the bottom of the patch:
NOS PREFERENDUM ESSE FORTUNOS QUAM SAPIENTOS, loosely translates to IT IS BETTER TO BE LUCKY THAN SMART"

This is the home of the USS Threadfin Crew member Association created in 1998 at our first Reunion in Hagerstown MD.
We created the Association and Reunion structure to meet every two years, enjoy the camaraderie of ex-crew members from
1944 through 1972, conduct our business meeting and select Officers for the next two year term leading up to the next
reunion.
If you are an ex-crew member and want to join your fellow shipmates, fill out an application form and get ready for some fun.
Did I mention that the Reunion in 2012 is being planned for none other than Key West Florida? What are you waiting for!!
